Holy Anarchy

Perhaps, after all, the decolonising agenda isn't extra baggage the church needs to carry on top of everything else. Perhaps, instead, it is the very heart of what the church should be about - disrupting, uncomfortable, and bringing about a kind of 'holy anarchy'. Christian faith is concerned with the God who shakes us open, contributing to an ever greater 'solidarity of the shaken', which has the quality of 'holy anarchy'. This dynamic exposes and disrupts the obstacles, or 'dishonesties', which obstruct it: those reinforcing the interests of the powerful (confronted through recovering the wildness of mission), those denying ambiguities and shadows in our own stories (confessed in a wasteful church), and those closing us to truth-potential outside ourselves (acknowledged by watery faith). Urgent and timely, this book weaves together themes around Empire, liberation and decolonial practice with an exploration of the nature and scope of church community, interreligious engagement, pioneering, and worship.
