Description

The story of the discovery of the True Cross, featuring one of the most important women in Christian history. Abandoned by her husband, in danger because of her faith, but determined to do what God calls her to, Empress Helena sets out on pilgrimage through the ancient landscapes of Caesarea and Judea. Here she is stalked by the menacing Roman assassin Severus. Yet she also meets those who would help her: the wise and wizened bishop Macarius; the rough-edged but kind-hearted sergeant Cratas, and the young soldier Anthony, a man who has lost everything.
