Family Fortunes acknowledges the particular challenges facing today’s families and seeks new and creative possibilities for nurturing faith in today’s communities. The family is variously regarded as either a key building block of society, or as an institution long past its sell-by date. It is certainly not what it was: families now come in all shapes and sizes. How can we make sense of this in the context of spiritually caring for one another? And how in today’s world can we use the inherited insights of the Christian tradition without seeking to turn the clock back? John and Olive Drane start from where today’s families find themselves – their everyday struggles, as well as their opportunities.
