The book’s four chapters capture stories of formerly incarcerated or formerly gang-affiliated men and women as they find work and new life through Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, California. Led by Catholic priest Gregory Boyle, Homeboy Industries provides employment and training opportunities that its participants might not otherwise be able to access. These men and women share their memories and experiences of Christmas in light of the hope and new life they’ve experienced at Homeboy. Author Justin Coleman matches the stories with Scripture and the Advent themes of hope, love, joy, and peace. Home for Christmas shows how the light of Christmas shines brightly around the rough edges of an inspiring place like Homeboy Industries. This Youth Study Book takes the ideas presented in the book and interprets them for young people grades 6-12.
