Description

Alexander Fiseisky is the foremost proponent of organ music in Russia and of Russian organ music to the rest of the world. In this rare collection, Fiseisky explores the evolution of the Russian organ tradition. 

Performed on the Lobback organ in the Hamburg Krreuzkirche, this program ranges from 19th Century improvisations of Glinka through classic compositional forms to the experimental work of Nirenburg and Schnittke. Fiseisky demonstrates how Russian composers have adapted Western European models to create a distinct and monumental ‘national sound’.
