SEVEN – Words of Life from a Place of Death

Description

Six Hours … Seven Words … One Cross That Changed the Course of History

During the six hours that Jesus hung on the cross, He spoke only seven times. His words were few, but what He said revealed the heart of God and proclaimed life from a place of death.

Surrounded by injustice, provocation, loss, abandonment, shame, defeat and death, Jesus spoke words of forgiveness, grace, love, hope, humility, triumph and trust. Words spoken in unimaginable suffering that continue to reach across the centuries and speak to us today.

In Seven, Dr John Andrews invites us to draw near to the Cross and listen again to words we may think we already know. Exploring each of the seven statements in its biblical and historical context, he uncovers fresh insights into the character of Jesus, the purpose of the Cross, and the extraordinary love of God revealed there.

But these words are not simply to be studied. They are words to be heard, embraced and lived.

Each exploration is followed by a dedicated reflection section to help us consider what the words of Jesus reveal about Him, what they say to us, and how they might be expressed through the lives we live.

Come again to the foot of the Cross.

Listen again to the words of Jesus.

And discover in His final words before death, that there is still life enough to change us. For there is nothing more important than the fact that Christ died for our sins and that He rose again.
