Description

Robert Sharpe showcases Lichfield Cathedral’s historic Hill organ with it’s renowned range of colour and power (subsequently restored by Harrison & Harrison) including the Tuba Mirabilis and featuring the Flûte Harmonique. 

The selection balances rigorous counterpoint from Bach and Dupré with the evocative French Romanticism of Widor and Vierne. Featuring British works by Alcock and Harris alongside a spirited Eric Coates march, the programme effectively demonstrates the instrument’s dynamic range, from it’s delicate string stops to blazing full-organ fanfares.
