This workbook, a companion to John Ortberg’s transformational book, Steps, is intended to help you go deeper in practicing the 12 Steps as a program for life and Christian spiritual formation whether or not you struggle with an addiction in the traditional sense. The 12 Steps of AA are not only for people with known addictions; they are a framework for life change and spiritual growth. The truth is, we are all addicts. We are all overly attached to something, starting with our egos, that we are powerless to control.

The Steps Workbook is an invitation to deeper personal transformation, discipleship, and healing. Each of its chapters focuses on practicing one of the 12 Steps of addiction recovery, with a format that includes:

• brief opening thoughts and a prayer
• a QR code providing access to a video of John Ortberg walking you through the step
• discussion questions for either individual or small group reflection
• self-discovery activities to help you put the content into action
• relevant Scripture, closing thoughts, and journal space for reflection.
